The Colorado Association Teachers of Family and Consumer Sciences (CATFACS) provides guidance to members in the curriculum areas of human growth and development, housing, food and nutrition, apparel and merchandising, financial management, personal behavior and independent living skills.
We are a division of the Colorado Association for Career and Technical Education and the national association, ACTE.

The Colorado Association of Family & Consumer Sciences (CAFCS) is the Colorado affiliate of the American Association of Family and Consumer Sciences (AAFCS). CAFCS is a professional organization where Family & Consumer Science Teachers, university educators, Cooperative Extension Agents, corporate executives, professional students, and members engaged in home and community services collaborate to improve the quality of individual and family life. We are professionals who educate and influence generations of American consumers in classrooms, companies, and communities.

Colorado Professional Development Credit Options
Below is a list of some of the credit opportunities that are available for FACS teachers. Credits for these activities vary based on approval from CSU. Keep in mind, 15 contact hours equals 1 semester credit.
Offered by the Program Director
Teachers will be able to receive Colorado State University credit for taking part in multiple activities during the year. These activities may require submission of lesson plans, posting to the FACS Blog, videos, etc. By offering credit for individual activities, you have the opportunity to earn credit for work that you may have already been doing.
